NXT TakeOver 31 was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) and WWE Network event produced by WWE for their NXT brand division. It took place on October 4, 2020 at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, which houses the new “Capitol Wrestling Center” – NXT’s version of the “ThunderDome” used for Raw and SmackDown at Orlando’s Amway Center. As the name implies, it was the 31st NXT TakeOver event. It was also the first TakeOver to be presented on traditional PPV in addition to the WWE Network.
Five matches were contested at the event. In the main event, Finn Bálor defeated Kyle O’Reilly to retain the NXT Championship. On the undercard, Io Shirai defeated Candice LeRae to retain the NXT Women’s Championship and Damian Priest defeated Johnny Gargano to retain the NXT North American Championship.
